I Urban Space Planning
The building is situated on the main street “Stephan Stambolov” in the old part of the town near the “Samovodska Tcharshiya” architectural ensemble. It is constructed on the place of the prior existing cinema “Modern Theatre”. Due to the new functional necessities and the complex hydro-geological conditions of the terrain, the existing building of the old cinema was demolished. During the dismantling activities on the street façade when the limestone decoration from the Socialist period was removed, some arcades and other elements of the original architecture of the building were discovered. At the time the building was originally put into exploitation – 1917 – it was the most modern cinema theatre in South-Eastern Europe, in Secession style with theatrical radiance of the façade. The investors readily adopted the idea that the architectural image of the new building should refer to the original project from 1913. We had the pleasure to resurrect the cultural spirit of a facade that remained hidden for generations of citizens of Veliko Tarnovo.
II Functionality
The Mall includes a three-level commercial complex with a main street entrance and two levels of Maisonettes with entrances from Vustannicheska Street, intended for offices. The commercial complex comprises of 32 shops for industrial goods and coffee, organized around a central atrium and internal passages. The roof existing in the original building above the main entrance and the street-level shops is restored and designed as a patio café with a balustrade.
III Finishing works
Part of the plastic of the typical archways, cornices, friezes and other decorative elements was achieved by a triple layer of the outer thermal insulation. The other elements are from the catalogue of the company Nomastyl. The façade finish is Baumit; the woodwork is wood color PVC.
The roof cover is Bardoline shindles.
